Students will learn how to throw on the pottery wheel and create functional pieces such as bowls, mugs, plates, while also discovering hand-building techniques including slab, coil, and sculptural construction. They’ll combine these skills to create imaginative, one-of-a-kind projects that are both artistic and functional. Every week introduces new techniques, allowing students to build confidence while expressing their own unique style.
Classes are taught by a BC certified teacher, with Bachelor’s of education from UBC. An instructor with over 25 years of experience teaching clay & 5 yrs teaching Montessori art, along with experience teaching high school visual arts and Advanced Placement (AP) Psychology. Their passion for childhood development, creative cognition, and hands-on learning helps create an environment where every student can thrive.
By combining proven educational approaches with professional ceramic techniques, students develop not only artistic skills but also spatial reasoning, creative thinking, perseverance, and confidence that extend far beyond the pottery studio.
